Respect for you – Respect for themselves

Respect begins at home. Children often imitate what they see at home, so pay attention to how you treat each other. Parents have to be parents so their children can learn from people who love and respect them. Respect is important because, without it, children cannot value themselves or others. Granted, it is not easy in today’s world with rappers who demean women in their music and others in their culture who continually enforce disrespect.

However, be a parent, not their friend, and continue to instill in them respect for themselves and not at someone else’s expense. The price for lack of self-respect is you will now have a child who will take drugs, alcohol, and sex and not care about anyone else. Remember, you are essentially writing the script for their future.
